I am very proud to announce that my first original release as Nautiluss will happen on September 26th, 2011 on HEMLOCK RECORDINGS! This is both an honor and a pleasure as I have SO much respect for both Jack Dunning aka Untold as a producer/DJ as well as the label’s discography.
I am also really, really, REALLY happy to report that two of my most respected radio DJs have recently premiered one of the songs from the Hemlock record, namely Mary-Anne Hobbs AND Gilles Peterson!!! When I was still working my day job and dreaming of doing music full-time, these two inspired me to keep at it and so it really is a great honor to be featured on their show. (actually I am still in disbelief)
The A-Side is called ‘Ultraviolet’ and featuring Simon Lord aka Lord Skywave on vocals and he did an INCREDIBLE job. I am super happy with how the record turned out and can’t wait for all of you to be able to buy it! You can preview it if you check Gilles Peterson’s recorded stream in the next two days (then its gone!)
Gilles Peterson Broadcast Wed 20 Jul 2011 BBC Radio 1

As you may or may not know, I have been experimenting with music-making for a long ass time. I originally got my start on PC shareware applications in the 90, namely “Trackers”, which were really primitive samplers with a sequencer. I think I used “FastTracker” and later ImpulseTracker. I know my first ever attempt at a “Song” was a remix of a Dee-Lite jam. I wish I still had it.
The earliest stuff that I made that I still possess is all available on my old site, back when I was pretty much just an MPC/sample-based producer named metrix. My big secret sample stash was renting old NFB documentaries on VHS and bringing them home and sampling right into the MPC. Songs that were made this way include “Deep blue”, “blue herons” and “wishuwerehere”. I swore I would never tell anyone about this because it was my best kept secret.
Although I was mostly using samples at that point, uou start to hear the electronic elements in “bionic” “8bitbug” when I bought my Realistic MG-1 (A Moog rebranded for Radio Shack). There’s even the first ever collaboration between me and isis called “iwannabeghostface”. This precedes our work together as Thunderheist. Back when I was just working on her solo project.
